“Forest River Bus, a Berkshire Hathaway Subsidiary, Acquires Trans Tech Bus – Revolutionizing the School Bus Industry!”

Forest River Bus LLC, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway’s Forest River Inc., has announced its intention to acquire Trans Tech Bus, Inc., a leading manufacturer of school buses, including all-electric buses, located in Warwick, Orange County. This acquisition marks a significant move in the transportation industry, as two prominent players join forces to further innovate and enhance the school bus market.

Trans Tech Bus, established in 2007, has built a strong reputation for producing high-quality school buses on chassis made by Ford and Chevy. The company made waves in 2011 by launching the first mass-produced electric school bus, showcasing its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the industry. With a 70,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Warwick, Trans Tech has been a key player in providing safe and efficient transportation solutions for school districts and contractors.

The decision to sell Trans Tech Bus to Forest River was met with enthusiasm by John Corr, the owner of Trans Tech Bus, who expressed his satisfaction in passing the torch to a company that shares the same dedication to building reliable school buses. Forest River, Inc., led by billionaire Warren Buffett, is the largest manufacturer of recreational vehicles, cargo trailers, pontoon boats, buses, vans, and commercial vehicles in North America. With over 14,000 employees across more than 100 facilities in several states, Forest River’s acquisition of Trans Tech Bus signifies a strategic expansion of its portfolio in the transportation sector.

The acquisition will see manufacturing operations at the Trans Tech Bus facility in Warwick continue under current management until September 20, after which production will transition to Forest River’s main bus facility in Goshen, Indiana. This move will impact all 81 Trans Tech employees, who will be part of the relocation process. Forest River Bus president David Wright expressed his excitement about the acquisition, emphasizing the company’s commitment to upholding Trans Tech Bus’s legacy of producing safe, efficient, and durable school buses for customers.

While the purchase price for Trans Tech was not disclosed, the acquisition signals a significant development in the school bus manufacturing industry. By combining the expertise and resources of Forest River and Trans Tech Bus, the companies aim to drive innovation and deliver top-notch transportation solutions to school districts and contractors across the country. As the deal progresses, stakeholders in the transportation sector will be closely watching to see how this partnership shapes the future of school bus manufacturing and electric vehicle technology.
