Exciting Business News Highlights in Leelanau County

Leelanau County is buzzing with exciting business news as summer approaches. From new wineries to recreational attractions, there is plenty happening in the area.

One of the newest additions to the Suttons Bay wine scene is Three Trees Vineyard, which recently held its grand opening on June 7. Co-owner Lyle Cifuentes, along with her husband Phil and business partners Scott and Laurie Muschong, decided to pursue their dream of owning a vineyard in northern Michigan during the pandemic. They closed on their Suttons Bay property in early 2021 and have already planted grapevines, with a variety of wines available for visitors to enjoy.

In addition to Three Trees Vineyard, Suttons Bay is also welcoming a new wine shop called Happy Girl Wine Co. The shop, owned by Ed and Teresa Bosse, aims to provide a cheerful and welcoming environment for wine enthusiasts to explore new and unique wines. With wine tastings and a curated selection of affordable wines, Happy Girl Wine Co. is set to shake up the local wine retail scene.

Meanwhile, in Glen Arbor, the River Club Glen Arbor is gearing up for its grand opening on June 24. This new establishment offers a miniature golf course, bar, restaurant, live music venue, and hangout spot along the Crystal River. Owners Mike and Gina Sheldon have been hard at work bringing their vision to life and are excited to finally open their doors to the public.

In other Leelanau business news, Ciccone Vineyard & Winery, owned by Madonna’s family, has been re-listed at a reduced price after failing to sell last summer. Additionally, Shady Lane Cellars is also up for sale, following the passing of owner Richard Fortune in 2022. Dr. Carrie Sands, a certified chiropractic sports physician, has opened a practice in Leland, offering services for athletes and more. And the Duneswood Inn has been rebranded as the Dune Climb Inn under new ownership, with renovations and reservations now available for the summer season.

With so much happening in Leelanau County, there is no shortage of exciting developments to look forward to as summer kicks off. Whether you’re a wine enthusiast, outdoor adventurer, or simply looking for a relaxing getaway, there is something for everyone in this vibrant community.
