Kentucky Personal Finance Challenge Winners Headed to National Competition

The Winners of the 2024 Kentucky Personal Finance Challenge, held at Northern Kentucky University, are gearing up to represent the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the National Personal Finance Challenge in Cleveland, Ohio on May 19-20. The high school division was won by Gabriel Thelen, John Lubert, and Ryan Hartman of the St. Henry High School Crusaders, while an all-female team from Campbell County Middle School took the top spot in the middle school division.

The National Personal Finance Challenge is a prestigious nationwide competition that tests students on their knowledge of earning income, spending, saving, investing, managing credit, and managing risk. The top four teams at the national finals will win cash prizes, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

The Kentucky Personal Finance Challenge finals saw participation from teams representing Cooper High School, Walton-Verona High School, Model High School, and Campbell County Middle School, in addition to the winning team from St. Henry High School. These teams earned their spots through a rigorous online qualifying round that involved over 500 students from schools across the state.

Bridget Kaiser-Munday, leader of the St. Henry Crusaders High School team, expressed her pride in the students’ hard work and emphasized the importance of financial responsibility from a young age. The event was a great success in inspiring students to take control of their financial futures and learn valuable skills that will benefit them for years to come.
