“Ram Mandir in Ayodhya: Balak Ram Idol Consecrated at Shri Ramjanmbhoomi Temple”

The recent Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Shri Ramjanmbhoomi temple in Ayodhya has brought about a significant development in the naming of the idol of Lord Ram Lalla. The 51-inch-tall idol will now be called “Balak Ram”, symbolizing the child form of Lord Ram. This decision was made by a priest associated with the ceremony, who highlighted the resemblance of the idol to a five-year-old child.

The idol of Balak Ram was meticulously crafted by Mysuru sculptor Arun Yogiraj using azure-coloured Krishna Shila, also known as soapstone. The choice of this metamorphic rock for the sculpture has proven to be perfect for carving idols. Following the consecration of the idol, various rituals and procedures have been established for the temple, including specific aarti timings and offerings to Lord Ram.

Some key details to note about the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya include the adornment of the Ram Lalla idol with Banarasi fabric, the performance of aarti six times a day, and the offerings of puri-sabzi-kheer and other sweets to Balak Ram. The temple will follow a schedule of aartis throughout the day, each serving a specific purpose in the worship of Lord Ram.

With the naming of the idol as Balak Ram and the establishment of detailed rituals and offerings, the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is set to become a focal point for devotees seeking to connect with the divine presence of Lord Ram.
