Elon Musk Denies Offering Sperm to Start Mars Colony: Focuses on Reaching Red Planet First

Elon Musk has denied rumors that he offered his sperm to help start a colony on Mars, dismissing a recent report by The New York Times. The SpaceX and Tesla CEO took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify that while colonizing Mars is a long-term goal, his focus is currently on the fundamental challenge of reaching the red planet.

The New York Times report claimed that Musk, 53, had asked SpaceX employees to start designing a city on Mars and explore the possibility of humans reproducing on the planet. Musk reportedly envisions a self-sufficient Martian colony, potentially bioengineering new species to thrive in the harsh environment.

Medical experts are studying the feasibility of reproduction on Mars, with Elon Musk expressing interest in creating his own species on the planet. Adam Watkins, an associate professor of reproductive biology, explained that freeze-dried sperm could potentially be sent into space and used for in vitro fertilization in a Mars settlement.

Despite facing challenges such as barren landscapes, extreme temperatures, and an inhospitable atmosphere, Musk remains determined to establish a self-sustaining civilization on Mars. While NASA aims to send humans to Mars in the 2040s, Musk’s timeline for achieving this milestone is much more ambitious.
