Elon Musk Deletes SpaceX and Tesla Facebook Pages After Twitter Challenge

Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Tesla Facebook Pages Disappear After Twitter Challenge

In a bold move, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc and SpaceX, made good on his promise to delete the verified Facebook pages of his companies after being challenged by a user on Twitter. The disappearance of the pages, which had millions of followers, came just minutes after Musk’s Twitter exchange.

The exchange began when a user tweeted at Musk, asking him to “Delete SpaceX page on Facebook if you’re the man?” Musk’s response was simple: “I didn’t realize there was one. Will do.” This led to the removal of both the SpaceX and Tesla pages from Facebook.

This move by Musk comes in the wake of the #deletefacebook movement, which gained traction after Facebook’s mishandling of user data that ended up in the hands of Cambridge Analytica. Musk had previously responded to a tweet from WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton on the hashtag, asking “What’s Facebook?”

While some users also urged Musk to delete his companies’ profiles on Instagram, Musk stated that he believed Instagram was “probably ok” as long as it remained independent. He also made it clear that he does not use Facebook and that his companies do not advertise or pay for endorsements.

This is not the first time Musk has clashed with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. Last year, the two had a public disagreement over the dangers of artificial intelligence, with Musk criticizing Zuckerberg’s understanding of the subject.

Overall, Musk’s decision to delete the Facebook pages of his companies showcases his willingness to take a stand on issues he believes in, even if it means going against a social media giant like Facebook.
