Elon Musk Moving More Company Headquarters to Texas Amid LGBTQ+ Legislation Controversy
Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla, is making big moves in Texas. Musk announced on Tuesday that he will be relocating the headquarters of SpaceX and X to the Lone Star state. This decision comes in response to a California law that Musk believes is attacking families and companies.
SpaceX will be moving from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas, while X will be relocating from San Francisco to Austin. Musk cited concerns about California laws and safety issues as reasons for the move. It is not yet clear how many staff or facilities will be transferred between the states.
This is not the first time Musk has made headlines for moving his companies to Texas. Tesla recently made the move as well, and Musk had previously vowed to move SpaceX’s business incorporation to the state.
The decision to move headquarters comes after a bill signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom that prohibits “forced disclosure” rules in public K-12 schools. Musk, who has had a public falling out with one of his children over their gender identity, called the move “the last straw” and alleged that families would have to leave California to protect their children.
It remains to be seen how this move will impact each company’s operations and employees. However, Musk has shown a commitment to making Texas a hub for his companies.
