Hunki Yun Named Executive Director of ASGCA and ASGCA Foundation

The American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) has announced that Hunki Yun will be taking over as the new executive director of both the ASGCA and the ASGCA Foundation, starting on September 1. Yun, an award-winning journalist with a background in the golf industry, will be succeeding Chad Ritterbusch, who held the position for 20 years.

Yun has a wealth of experience in the golf industry, having previously worked for the United States Golf Association (USGA) in various roles. He has also worked as a writer and editor for several prominent golf publications, including “Golf Digest” and “GOLF Magazine.” Yun has been involved in planning and executing events such as the Golf Innovation Symposium and the Sustainability Showcase at the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America Conference and Trade Show.

In a statement, Yun expressed his excitement about taking on this new role and working with ASGCA members to shape the future of golf course architecture. ASGCA President Mike Benkusky praised Yun’s industry background and his ability to connect with ASGCA members and industry partners.

The decision to appoint Yun was made by the ASGCA Board of Governors, following a thorough review of candidates by a search committee led by ASGCA Past President Brit Stenson. Stenson highlighted Yun’s qualifications and his inquisitive nature, which he believes will serve him well in his new role.

Yun will be the third executive director in ASGCA’s 77-year history, following in the footsteps of Paul Fullmer and Ritterbusch. Ritterbusch will remain involved with the organization as Executive Director Emeritus.
