India’s Once-In-A-Generation Economic Growth: Insights from Amitabh Kant, G20 Sherpa, at Capital Talks, a JGU Thought Leadership Series

The G20 Sherpa highlighted India’s goal of becoming a $30 trillion economy by 2047 and outlined the structural reforms and digital infrastructure developments that have contributed to the country’s growth. He also discussed the importance of initiatives like the Goods and Services Tax (GST), bankruptcy code, and focus on infrastructure development in post-Covid era.

Kant underscored the need for India to transition from a services-driven economy to a manufacturing powerhouse, creating large manufacturing companies and focusing on sustainable urbanization. He also emphasized the importance of improving learning outcomes, healthcare, and nutritional standards for sustained growth.

The event, organized by the Jindal India Institute, brought together experts to discuss India’s economic growth and leadership role in the G20. The institute aims to promote a positive understanding of India’s achievements and position the country as a global leader in various fields.
