Elon Musk Announces Headquarters Move from California to Texas
In a shocking turn of events, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced on Wednesday that he will be moving the headquarters of his aerospace company and social media platform X from California to Texas. This decision comes after California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new law preventing schools from requiring employees to notify parents if students want to use names or pronouns different from those on their birth certificates.
Musk took to social media to express his frustration, stating, “This is the final straw. Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies.” He further explained that he had warned Governor Newsom about the consequences of such laws a year ago, emphasizing that families and companies would be forced to leave California to protect their children.
The tech billionaire criticized the state’s handling of crime, stating, “Authorities keep saying it will get better, but it doesn’t. Last week was the worst experience ever. Crime is allowed to run rampant in California.” As a result, Musk has already shifted Tesla’s headquarters from California to Texas and will now be relocating SpaceX and X as well.
The SpaceX headquarters will be moved from Hawthorne, California to Starbase, Texas, a SpaceX complex and launch site near Brownsville. Similarly, the X social media platform will also move its headquarters from San Francisco to Austin, Texas. Musk cited safety concerns as a major factor in the decision, stating, “Have had enough of dodging gangs of violent drug addicts just to get in and out of the building.”
