Elon Musk Announces SpaceX Upgrade Package for Tesla Roadster
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has announced an exciting new upgrade package for the upcoming Roadster sports car. The package, developed by SpaceX, will include around 10 small rocket thrusters that will enhance the vehicle’s acceleration, maximum speed, braking, and handling.
In addition to the rocket thrusters, the package will also remove the rear seats of the vehicle. Musk advised that the upgrade would not be suitable for urban areas, indicating that it is designed for high-performance driving.
The system will primarily be powered by the vehicle’s battery pack, according to Musk. He unveiled the details of the SpaceX package at Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting, showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation and pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology.
The new Roadster, set to arrive in 2020, aims to demonstrate that an electric car can outperform traditional gas-powered vehicles on all performance metrics. With a base price of $200,000, the Roadster is projected to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 1.9 seconds, reach a top speed of 250 mph, and travel 620 miles per charge.
This collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX highlights the synergy between the two companies, with employees sharing ideas and expertise to drive innovation. The Roadster represents a bold step forward in electric vehicle technology, showcasing the potential for sustainable transportation to rival traditional gas-powered vehicles.
