Burton’s Chamber of Commerce Hosts Saturdays in the Country Vendor Event at Historic Log Cabin

Burton’s Chamber of Commerce hosted a successful Saturdays in the Country vendor event outside the historic Burton Log Cabin on June 29, despite the rainy weather. With around 25 vendors in attendance, visitors had the opportunity to explore a variety of offerings, including Amish produce, handmade pottery, and even political signs for the upcoming election.

One of the highlights of the event was the presence of several local wineries, providing samples to eager morning visitors. MJ Cronin, owner of Salvage Winery in Mantua, shared her journey of opening the winery in October 2023 after working as a winemaker for North Creek Winery. Cronin imports her produce from the West Coast, with dry whites from Washington State and dry reds from California, along with two sweet wines made from local grapes.

Cronin’s winery pays homage to her background in salvage, with watercolor paintings resembling patinated metal work on the labels designed by her friend David Randall of Chagrin Falls. Growing up in a multi-generational salvage yard business, Cronin’s winery represents a spiritual continuation of her life from salvage to Syrah, her gold award-winning wine.

Despite the rain affecting the turnout of vendors, Sue Wayman, president of Burton Chamber of Commerce, expressed her dedication to organizing these events for the community. The monthly Saturdays in the Country event, which started in 2010, aims to bring people into Burton to support local businesses and restaurants.

With plans for future themed events, including a kids day with inflatables and activities, Saturdays in the Country continues to be a popular attraction for both locals and visitors. For more information on upcoming events, visit www.burtonchamberofcommerce.org.
