Blue Origin Files Legal Action Against SpaceX, Requests Limit on Launches in Florida

Blue Origin, the space exploration company owned by Jeff Bezos, has taken legal action against Elon Musk’s SpaceX once again. This time, Blue Origin is requesting that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) limit the number of launches SpaceX can perform in Florida.

In a recent public comment filed with the FAA, Blue Origin recommended that a cap be placed on the number of launches SpaceX can conduct with its Starship Super Heavy booster and rockets at Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center. The company cited concerns about the impact on the local environment, personnel, and community, including risks such as air toxin dispersion, road closures, and noise generation.

This latest move by Blue Origin is part of an ongoing dispute between the two space companies. In the past, Blue Origin has taken legal action against SpaceX, including a lawsuit against NASA for awarding a lunar contract to SpaceX without considering other alternatives. Despite these efforts, SpaceX has continued to secure contracts and expand its operations.

It remains to be seen how the FAA will respond to Blue Origin’s request for a limit on SpaceX launches in Florida. In the meantime, the rivalry between Blue Origin and SpaceX shows no signs of slowing down as both companies compete for dominance in the space industry.
