Tesla Sets Up New Supercharger Near SpaceX’s Starbase Facility in Texas, Boosting Tourism Efforts

Tesla Inc has recently announced the installation of a new supercharger at Boca Chica Boulevard in Texas, near Elon Musk’s rocket manufacturing company’s Starbase facility. The new supercharger in Brownsville boasts 16 stalls and is strategically located near SpaceX’s Starbase facility, where Musk is aiming to boost tourism.

This move comes as part of Tesla’s efforts to support the growing tourism industry around Starbase. Musk has previously outlined plans to transform Starbase into a photography hotspot, with old Starships lined up for enthusiasts to capture pictures with. The company’s vision for Starbase has already attracted thousands of visitors, with Cameron County Judge Eddie TreviƱo, Jr. estimating the economic impact of tourism at over $99 million in 2025.

While all development and manufacturing of the Starship launch vehicle currently takes place at Starbase in Texas, Musk has hinted at plans to build two Starship towers in Cape Canaveral, Florida. However, all recent flight tests of the Starship have been launched from Starbase, with the latest test proving successful.

SpaceX is expected to have at least six flights of the Starship this year, with NASA closely monitoring the progress of the spacecraft as it aims to land humans back on the moon. The success of the Starship could potentially pave the way for future crewed missions beyond low-Earth orbit.

Overall, Tesla’s new supercharger at Brownsville marks a significant step in supporting the growth of tourism around Starbase and further solidifying Musk’s vision for the future of space exploration.
