College Students’ Top Financial Worries: Job Prospects and Student Debt

The top concern for college students goes beyond just tuition and student debt, according to a recent survey from WalletHub. Nearly half of college students feel that their college isn’t doing enough to help them understand personal finance. The survey revealed that the biggest fear for students is not being able to find a job after graduation, with 39% ranking it as their top concern. Following closely behind is the fear of student loan debt, with 35% of students listing it as their biggest worry.

Interestingly, the survey also found that a significant number of students are choosing their fields of study based on the potential for high earnings rather than pursuing their passions. About 46% of students surveyed said their goal is to make as much money as possible in their professions.

Despite these financial concerns, the majority of students still believe that the money spent on tuition is well worth it, with around 75% expressing no regrets about pursuing higher education. However, the survey also highlighted the impact of parental debt on students, with 54% reporting that a parent’s debt has negatively affected them.
