Gilmour’s Amy Weybrecht Leads Lancers to Victory at Division II Perry District

On May 18, during Day 2 of the Division II Perry District, Gilmour’s Amy Weybrecht showcased her talent by winning the 800 and 1,600-meter races and also running on the first-place 4×400 relay team. The Lancers emerged victorious, claiming the team title with 120 points.

Weybrecht’s impressive performance was a key factor in Gilmour’s success, as she led the charge with a distance double in the 800 and 1,600. Her precision and strategic approach to the races helped secure crucial points for the team.

In an interview after her wins, Weybrecht expressed her excitement and satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “Everything kind of came together today, which was really exciting. I think throughout the season, we’ve just been patient and waiting for postseason. And I think that really showed today.”

The highlight of the day was the Lancers’ victory in the 4×400 relay, where the quartet of Grace Kotora, Weybrecht, Rielyn Jackson, and Abby Detzel clocked a time of 4 minutes, 1.07 seconds. This win, along with their impressive performance throughout the season, has boosted the team’s confidence as they head into the D-II Austintown-Fitch Regional.
